Kolbe celebrated his birthday with the kids at school today. He took cookies and green ice cream. Of course the kids liked their treats and sang Happy Birthday (as well as a group of 4 year olds can.)Kolbe likes to paint, but has never been too interested in coloring, drawing, or writing. I got a chuckle out of looking at his picture and alphabet tracing compared to the little girl next to him. You may notice her perfectly traced letters. Obviously she must have INCREDIBLE TALENT, way beyond her years, ;) although, she doesn't look too happy about it. Kolbe's teacher said when this particular little girl writes her name, it looks like an adult wrote it. How does Kolbe write his name?...An X (his attempt at a K) He is totally unaware there is any difference. I thought teaching middle and high schoolers with a wide variety of abilities was a challenge, but it is nothing compared to this. Kolbe is still trying to learn how to hold a writing utensil correctly, he holds it like a popsicle. Kolbe's teachers love him just the way he is!
After our treats Libby climbed up in the chair where Kolbe's friend Darian was sitting. Darian didn't mind and I thought it was cute so got out my camera. Kolbe immediately edged his way onto the seat dumping out Libby so he could be in the spotlight.

If you click on the picture, it shows up much larger. The was worth it to view the difference in the kids' coloring. What a laugh! That girl is Harvard-bound!
